6 Year Anniversary | A Night in New York City

Hi guys! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that Friday was mine and my boyfriend's 6 year anniversary! We're both pretty simple and didn't want to do anything too crazy (since we're in the middle of a lot right now - More to come on that in another post!) but we still wanted to share a special night together. We live right across the Hudson River (get it?!) from NYC, so figured we would venture to the city for a reason other than work for a night of celebration.

We had a great time & I wanted to take you through what we did! This night could be great for any occasion since we didn't go crazy with dinner and drinks. I'm thinking of starting an NYC area travel series on my blog, so this will kind of kick it off.

We started off the night by heading to a little Italian restaurant in Union Square called Al Vicoletto. Neither of us had been there before, but it had great reviews on Yelp, so we figured we'd give it a shot. It's pretty casual, but the lights are dimmed a bit at night so brings in a romantic feel, but this is certainly somewhere you can go with any dynamic of people.

We sat inside because it was a bit chilly that night, but they do offer an adorable outdoor space behind the restaurant so you're not sitting on the street (but they do have a few tables out front as well!) We will definitely come back and enjoy their outdoor space as it continues to warm up :)

We were seated right away and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our favorite part of eating at Italian restaurants is the bread, we're carb lovers! We got this cute little bread board with assorted bread and spreads as we waited for our food to be cooked up.

I ordered penne vodka with grilled chicken (not on the menu but they can make it!) and Ryan ordered the steak with homemade fries and sautéed veggies. Ryan ate his plate clean and I almost did (I would have if we weren't going out after this - One of the best vodka sauces I've ever had and I've have alooooot of vodka sauces :P.)

Usually, neither of us are too into dessert, but we had a lot to celebrate so we went for this vanilla gelato with fresh berries - it was delicious! Overall, we both really enjoyed this spot. It's quality Italian cuisine at an amazing price point!

Next, we still had some time before our final event of the night so we headed over to Sala One Nine for a drink. Sala is an authentic Spanish fare restaurant in the Chelsea/Flatiron area (under 10 minute walk from Al Vicoletto.) I work right near this place and always wanted to go in, so figured this was the perfect opportunity.

We didn't order any food, but it smelled delicious in there! It was quite crowded when we went, but we were able to snag the last two seats at the back bar. Ryan ordered a beer and I got their signature sangria, which they're big on!

We were only there for about a half hour, but the atmosphere and the smell of the place will certainly bring us back for some food! This is a great spot for a date or girls night.

Our last stop for the night, the main event if you will, was Escape the Room! Ryan and I have been talking about doing this for so long so he booked it for us! It was so much fun and I highly recommend it!

We were placed within a group to get out of They Agency at their midtown location. It was definitely hard! We didn't make it (meh!) but we got pretty darn close. I definitely want to go back and try out some of the other rooms now that I have a better idea of how the game works.

I highly recommend checking this out! It's perfect for a big group of friends, colleagues, team building etc.

And that was our night! It was low-key but really fun with some great company :) Thanks so much for reading!
