Drugstore Haul + First Impressions | January/February 2017

While I like to pretend I'm made of money and can buy any products I want, I know that's not always a reality. This is why I'm such a sucker for drugstore products since it's easier to justify spending $10 rather than $20--or maybe that's a lie I tell myself to continue my beauty hoarding problem ;) Regardless, the drugstore has been killin' it lately. Over the past few weeks I purchased some brand new products and some older products I never got the chance to try and today I'll be giving my initial thoughts on them!

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder - I had seen so many reviews about this product so I had to have it! Unfortunately, my first impression is that it's j ust okay. It feels a little bit drying and my skin is dry enough in the winter so this definitely won't be my go-to powder for now, but I think this would be great in the warmer months when my skin is naturally more supple.

ELF HD Lifting Concealer - This product has been around for a while but there was an ExtraBucks reward if you purchased $8 worth of ELF products, so I had to pick this up! The packaging is very similar to both the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, both of which I love, so I figured I'd give it a go. This isn't as creamy as the other two and looks a tad dry on my skin, but I definitely think this will work once I get my skin back to normal.

Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint - The is another product I heard a lot of buzz about. I actually really like this! I haven't worn a non-matte lip product in so long, but this is a nice in-between from matte and a lip gloss. It doesn't wear super long, but it also doesn't crack off like a liquid lipstick might, so I'm into this!

ELF HD Under Eye Setting Powder - Another product that's been around for a long time-- I've been looking for a new under-eye powder to set my concealer and figured I'd give this a whirl. I really enjoy this so far! I've used it every day since I got it and it's kept my concealer from creasing and I like how it sits on my face all day.

Beauty 360 Trial Size Facial Masks - Beauty 360 is a CVS brand and they have a pretty large line of face masks I've been wanting to try. I found this cute single-use duo and thought it was the perfect way to try out the masks without buying the full bottles incase they weren't my favorite. These are also great for traveling! I will be picking up another duo (or two) before our Eurotrip next month!

MUA Lash Separater - I'm not sure how long this has been around, but it caught my eye when I was in CVS so I grabbed it! I have a few products from MUA that I enjoy and could always use a tool to help separate my lashes, so this find was a win! This does a great job if used right after mascara application and it's still wet.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick - This was probably the product I was looking forward to the most. I stalked my local CVS and Walgreen's until I finally found them! This product is so great! I already went out and purchased two more shades. These feel really nice on the lips and they last a pretty long time for the inexpensive price!

ELF Acne Fighting Spot Gel with Aloe - This product has been around for as long as I can remember. I actually used it back in college and remember liking it, so to get my ExtraBucks, I picked it up again. This is certainly a bit drying, but the aloe in the product helps soothe the skin afterward.

Wet n Wild Perfect Pout Gel Lip Liner - Wet n Wild has released so many new products (so many more that I need to try!) I wish I could have bought them all! I was excited to try out this lip liner because I heard such great reviews. I love that it's retractable and the gel formula lasts a long time on the lips.

Swatches L-R:
Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in Give Me Mocha
Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in Stripped Down
Wet n Wild Perfect Pout Gel Lip Liner in Bare to Comment

Overall, I think I got some really good products out of the haul! I'm super excited about all of the lip products and already plan to purchase more shades of all of them. I think I'm going to do a whole post on the Catsuit Matte Lipsticks with lip swatches, so let me know if you're interested in that! Thanks so much for reading! <3

  1. I too love wet and wild matte lipstick! I had tried Milani Amore matte lip cream and I was NOT impressed. I loved the beautiful color but it crumbled way too much. Then I found wet & wild liquid catsuit (video vixen) and love it...better than Milani and cheaper too.
